Each day, approximately 110 Americans are shot to death by guns. New York City alone sees 870 gun related deaths each year. Every year, more than 10300 hate crimes are committed across the country using firearms. While it seems that these numbers are shocking, the reality is that every town in America is affected by gun violence. Many times, politicians and the gun lobby have been trying to stop change for far too long. This has prevented any common-sense measures to reduce the problem.
Everytown's Community Safety Fund
The Community Safety Fund will fund community violence prevention programs by funding twice as much. The initiative aims to help 100 local organizations fight the epidemic of gun violence by 2021. In the beginning, the fund will support two types grantmaking: long term support grants that support peer involvement and capacity building; and smaller, sustainer grants. To combat the epidemic, the Everytown Foundation made the commitment of reducing gun violence in the community.

Its 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate
Everytown's 501(c)(4) nonprofit affiliate spends money on independent expenditures. Their expenditures go mainly to support Democratic candidates. In the most recent midterm election the group spent $195769 on Democratic candidate. Everytown only gave money to five Republicans. The organization is largely funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has pledged $50 million to its anti-gun campaigns.
Its lobbying expenditures
Last year, Everytown spent $386,922 on lobbying for gun control initiatives. Of that total, $195,769 went to support Democratic candidates, while $54,247 went to help three Republicans. Most of that money was spent to help the candidates of the Democratic Party, with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg providing much of the money. These expenditures show that Everytown supports not just gun control policies but also an overall agenda to combat violence in America.
Its fundraising efforts
Everytown is committed to preventing gun violence by involving students. Everytown has partnered to help advocate for gun controls across the United States. Many of these organizations have been funded by Bloomberg through ballot initiative committees. Nevadans are responsible gun owners and Mainers for Responsible Background Checks. The Oregon Democracy Fund, South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility are other organizations.

Its board
The board of directors for Everytown is comprised of individuals with a diverse background. The members include Aileen Adams, the former deputy mayor of Los Angeles, and George Kieffer, chair of the University of California system's board of regents. Melissa Scholz is also on the list. Melissa Scholz is a nonprofit lawyer who was part of the redistricting effort Play Fair Wisconsin, a project run by the left-leaning High Ground Institute. Other members of the board include Nina Vinik, a lawyer and former legal director of the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Vernetta, an ex-executive director of the Alliance for Justice, is also a member of Everytown's board.
